Minikube Install
This guide installs minikube on ubuntu.
Installing minikube
- I am basing this on minikube start page
- prerequisites:
- Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS, running as a VirtualBox VM
- My Ubuntu VM has 5 CPUs (only need 2)
- My Ubuntu VM has 22812mb (I only need 2G)
- My Ubuntu VM has 497GB of free disk space (only need 20G)
- I have docker installed
- So, click on the linux button in the page, to make sure you get the correct version.
- I am running the displayed commands:
1osboxes@osboxes:~$ mkdir yuvinst
2osboxes@osboxes:~$ cd yuvinst/
3osboxes@osboxes:~/yuvinst$
4osboxes@osboxes:~/yuvinst$ curl -LO https://storage.googleapis.com/minikube/releases/latest/minikube-linux-amd64
5 % Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
6 Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed
7100 91.2M 100 91.2M 0 0 20.3M 0 0:00:04 0:00:04 --:--:-- 20.3M
8osboxes@osboxes:~/yuvinst$
9osboxes@osboxes:~/yuvinst$ ls -l
10total 93396
11-rw-rw-r-- 1 osboxes osboxes 95637096 May 1 04:34 minikube-linux-amd64
12osboxes@osboxes:~/yuvinst$
- As you can see, this has downloaded a single file. This is actually the whole program.
- now for the installaion:
1osboxes@osboxes:~/yuvinst$ sudo install minikube-linux-amd64 /usr/local/bin/minikube && rm minikube-linux-amd64
2[sudo] password for osboxes:
3osboxes@osboxes:~/yuvinst$
4osboxes@osboxes:~/yuvinst$ ls
5osboxes@osboxes:~/yuvinst$
- As you can see, install is just a fancy copy command, so the file was moved to its place.
- I can now launch a cluster with the minikube start command.
I'd make sure I install kubectl before that.
